Orlando
Emily and I are sitting here at the Orlando International Airport waiting for our flight back to Columbus. We came down to Orlando for a day for a meeting with a GBIM consultant. That in and of itself was a really positive time and we really learned a lot about ourselves.
We flew in last night and thanks to Emily and Hotwire stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. We knew it was near the airport but when we turned around and saw that it was in the airport we were really surprised. After checking in, we called our good friend from college, Rachel Ropp who picked us up and took us to get some delicious Vietnamese food. It was a first for us and was really good.
After our morning meeting we drove out to Campus Crusade to visit Rachel again and get the unofficial tour, complete with a free latte. Rachel works with the Jesus Film Project, traveling all around the world to record the film in more languages. It's a sweet ministry and it was fun to see the inner workings of the project
today. After Crusade, we headed next door to Wycliffe and got complimentary tickets to the WordSpring tour, thanks to Rachel's dad. That was pretty sweet too. It's amazing all that goes into translating the Bible. Did you know that only 429 languages (out of more than 6,000) have the entire Word of God in their language? What about the fact that there are over 500 translations in English alone? Doesn't that seem a bit disproportional??
On the way back to the airport I worked on my portrait skills and took Emily's facebook profile pic. I thought it turned out pretty good.
Our flight is delayed so hopefully we take off soon. Orlando is on my list of favorite airports with free wi-fi (along with Columbus and Fort Wayne). I wish every airport would do that. I know I would be a much happier traveller.
