The Coolest Thing
In high school, my favorite subjects were Social Studies and History. I like the drama and the interactions of people and countries. I've been out of school for eight years now (EIGHT?!) and I still enjoy history and the making of it. As I told you guys earlier, I randomly put my name in the lottery for a seat at the democratic debate on MSNBC and got a ticket! They made the mistake of sending out two confirmation emails instead of one, and I thought that Mike had a ticket too, but he didn't. We weren't planning on going because of the weather, but I decided on a whim that I wanted to be there, so Mike and I drove up to Cleveland after work and I went. It.Was.So.Cool! I really enjoyed it! The debate itself was good, though I think that it wasn't the most fabulously interesting thing I've ever listened to. It was, on the other hand, the hot spot for democrats and rich people and actors. Yes, actors. I had a great seat about halfway up and behind Brian Williams. He and Tim Russert moderated, and did a great job. They talked to the audience before the cameras went on, and were hilarious! I LOVED being on a TV set and all that goes with it- and the security! The secret services were everywhere! I've heard rumors that some people are worried about Barack getting assassinated before he is nominated.
AND, afterwards, both candidates signed autographs and gave handshakes. I went down to the front to see how far I could go, and it was within handshake distance of both Barack and Hillary! I'm not enamored with either candidate, but it was cool to be so close! They both looked exhausted. Good, but VERY tired. Oh, and I saw: Chelsea Clinton, Jesse Jackson, AND….
Dennis Haysbert, who played President Palmer in 24, Jonas Blane from The Unit (which is an awesome show) and is that guy from the Allstate Commercial for those of you who don't know the shows. I would vote for him for President. And, he's as good looking in real life as he is on TV! I walked right next to him outside the auditorium, and got his autograph. I didn't have anything cool to say to him, and I resisted saying, "My husband and I are big fans," so I just asked for his autograph and thanked him. I also literally walked past another actor that I've seen in movies, but I can't remember who it is! I went to leave and was walking up the steps and had to say "Excuse me" to a group of people- and did a sort of double take- I must have looked like an idiot. Oh well, it was awesome! There were tons of politicians all over the place- the governor, the mayor, reps and senators, and people whose commercials I've seen on TV. I've never seen so many dark suits in the same place in my life! Well, I had my day with history and it was worth it! And no, I'm not a democrat (or a republican for that matter), but an independent who votes for the best candidate. I am kind of tired of Christians who say that voting Christian = voting Republican. Read your Bibles, it's not always the same thing.

Bummer that Mike couldn’t go, too. Glad you had a good time.
