August has been spent mostly packing, moving, unpacking, setting up and finally feeling at home in our new place.

We loved our first apartment. We really did. All 535 sq. ft. of it. Finally, though, after almost a year of being crammed into a tiny 1 bedroom apartment, storing our bikes in Mike’s car and our charcoal grill in the living room closet, we decided to start looking for a new place.

We stumbled upon this new place by pure accident (or should I say providence). We had looked at some townhouses in the area, but didn’t overly like anything we saw. We were randomly driving around the neighborhood when we found this duplex with a For Rent sign out front. I called the number and the guy said he would come in 5 minutes to show it to us. Inside it was totally gutted and the electric had been shut off thanks to the previous tennants. But as we checked it out in the fading twilight and heard how much he was asking for it, we knew we had found our new place.
